How much can a band stay mysterious and relevant at the same time in 2026? Let me tell you the story of Hear Hear and the journey that led to it now playing in my earphones.

A cold winter morning in Vilnius, -10 Celsius outside, a still-dark early January Monday. The holiday season just ended, can anything get you pumped on such an almost-blue Monday? “Easy FM” (!) radio plays in the background in my car. For non-locals: the irony is that this station usually makes very background-like music, reminiscent of cruise-ship cover bands (think Radiohead’s “Creep” slowed down, melodic, jazzy, with a female voice). This time, though, they played something unusually catchy: an indie beat with dark, almost DIIV-style guitars and convincing Two Door Cinema Club-style vocals.

The next second, I’m Shazaming it and can’t believe my eyes: a small indie duo (?) from Brooklyn. How do they show up on my local radio and catch my attention when my only goal this morning was to stay upright in freezing, slippery conditions?

I wanted to know everything about this band, but could find so little. They have a few releases on Spotify and almost no presence elsewhere online, aside from a bit of Instagram activity. Their short bio reads: “A playlist you made for your ex.” Honestly, that description hits harder than anything I could write – it perfectly captures the mood of “Duvet.” Fine, let the music speak for itself.

I’m glad to have added this track to IndieWave FM’s playlist Laid-back Indie Rock, giving another morning a groovy lift.
