Today marks the release of the second full-length album by KEELEY, an 80s-inspired Irish shoegaze/dreampop artist. The single “Inga Hauser”, which I chose to feature on IndieWave FM, is a mesmerizing, multi-layered, and beautifully crafted track that truly stands out.

What I love most about this song is how well it showcases the artist’s passion for music. Though it's somewhat lengthy, it never feels that way. The track is filled with engaging riffs and melodies that evolve over time, allowing you to fully appreciate the genre. At the same time, the vocal parts enter precisely where they should, adding fresh layers to the sound.

Keeley Moss, the driving force behind KEELEY, is a unique artist who remains devoted to telling a single story through all of her songs: the unsolved mystery of German traveller Inga Maria Hauser, who became notorious after her brutal murder.

The song "Inga Hauser" is no exception; it delves deeper into the tragic end of this backpacker’s life, enveloping listeners in a mood that evokes the sound of The Smiths, complete with chorused guitar riffs and groovy drum and percussion rhythms.

On that note, KEELEY’s connection to The Smiths goes beyond a mere sonic resemblance. Morrissey’s (The Smiths frontman act) former drummer currently performs at KEELEY’s live shows, adding an extra layer of authenticity to her performances.

The song is now featured on the Beautiful Shoegaze & Dreampop playlist.
