A duet of Berlin-based singer-songwriters, Brea and Dom, known as Flora Falls, are confidently paving their way into the spotlight of the indie folk scene. With several EPs and singles already in their catalogue, they’ve just released a fresh track called “Shake the Tide.”
It’s a song inspired by the ache of being far from family and friends. The band says it’s about “those familiar moments of being passed around on a birthday video call, waiting for the right time to connect across time zones, saying goodbye at the airport and hoping your young nieces or nephews remember you when you return, or hearing bad news last because no one knew how to share it from afar” – something that’s no stranger to many of us.
The theme isn’t the only thing that draws us in. Musically, it’s a mellow ballad full of warmth and hope – almost like a late-night campfire story where you can hear the crackling of the bonfire beside you.
Flora Falls promise a debut album in the near future, marking what could be a bold new chapter in their evolution. We hope so too. And while we wait, I’ve added “Shake the Tide” to IndieWave FM’s playlist Indie Folk Roadtrip.
